Thank You for Your Support!

Bagel Tuesdays is helping to serve as a pilot program for a revised Food Days protocol for the Fall 2021/22 school year. Just recently, Dr. Mingle has agreed to allow the PTOs to bring back 'Food Days' in a limited capacity and Ms. Smith offered the help of her front office staff for delivery. So, beginning May 4, 2021, the ALT PTO will provide Bagel Tuesdays for morning snack. We are working with a local vendor Bagels-4-U in Warren to provide two options to the children: a plain bagel stick or a plain bagel with cream cheese.

If it is successful and the district permits any type of Food Days program for the Fall, we hope to be able to offer our children more options going forward. A portion of the proceeds for all sales will go to the ALT PTO for enrichment programs for our children. In fact, you can also pay your PTO dues on if you haven’t already. Thank you for your continued support of the ALT PTO!

NEW TO ALT? Some Background Info On 'Food Days' & How It Has Changed

For families that are new to ALT, 'Food Days' was a lunch program that “PRE-COVID” gave parents an alternative to packing a lunch every day. ALT does not have a traditional cafeteria, so the ALT PTO signed up local vendors to deliver fresh, kid-friendly meals daily that parents would order in advance through for their child’s lunch. A small portion of each lunch purchase went to fund the ALT PTO, so that we can provide great enrichment programs to our children. Parents would volunteer to come to school and help hand out the lunches to the children in the All Purpose Room. The proceeds from Food Days made up a large portion of our PTO budget, which helped to keep annual PTO dues low.

Since we are living in a pandemic, programs such as Food Days had to be placed on hold as the district sorted out certain safety protocols, procedures, etc. A large portion of the Food Days programs involves parent volunteers to hand out the lunches inside the school, so we had to come up with an alternative delivery protocol.

We are also working with a local vendor,, to provide the mechanism for ordering. The ordering window of April 20 – April 23 at 6:00PM is very short and very strict. You must place your order within that window for the entire 6- week Bagel Tuesdays. You will not be permitted to make any changes once the order is placed. You will not be able to cancel any order. There are no exceptions, no refunds.

Our local Food Day vendors are all available for take-out lunch options during the period of school closure.
  • Bagels-4-U (Warren)
  • Café Agira (Warren)
  • La Strada (Warren)
  • Martinsville Deli (Martinsville)
  • Marino's (Watchung)
  • Ling Ling (Basking Ridge)
  • Warren Deli (Warren)

If you are interested in volunteering during lunch, please let us know. We can work with just about any schedule. It is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and to have lunch with your child at the same time!

If you have any questions, please reach out to any one of us on the ALT Food Days committee. Thank you!
