HALLOWEEN PARADE

Thursday, October 31, 2019

Parent Arrival & Screening 1:00-1:15p

Parade Time: 1:30-2:15p

ALL PARENTS & VISITORS MUST RSVP FOR THIS EVENT

Please check your email and complete the Google Form provided in the e-blast from Principal Smith.

COSTUMES

Parents are asked to send students into school with costumes in a bag labeled with the child’s full name. Costumes should be manageable enough for the children to change into by themselves. We encourage everyone to join in the fun and make responsible decisions when preparing costumes for school. Please note the following items are NOT permitted for children or adults visiting for any events:

  • Real or pretend weapons/hazardous items
  • Masks or hoods that conceal faces/identity
  • Items or clothing that convey violence or impropriety
  • Pets or live animals

PARKING

All visitors are welcome to park in open spots in the front or at the side of the building. When all of our parking spaces are filled, you may park on one side of the local streets. Please do not park on the lawns of the neighboring houses. ALL CARS MUST BE MOVED BY 2:30 FOR BUSES TO ARRIVE.

PARENT ARRIVAL & PARADE LOCATION

If the weather is fair, the activities will take place behind the school on the back playing field. You may arrive at the school and proceed to the playground area where checkpoints will be set up for registered visitors will be screened and receive a wristband.

Once screened, parents should gather in the center of the coned off area. Teachers will lead the children around the perimeter of the parents at least two times for parents to snap pictures and view all of the great costumes! Teachers will then lead the children to the back of the building for dismissal. Only one parent is permitted to proceed to the dismissal area. All other visitors and parents are asked to remain in the field.

In the event of rain, please enter through the front of the building. We will meet in the gym and parade two grade levels at a time (K-1, 2-3, 4-5).

PARADE PROCESS & DISMISSAL

If you plan to take your child home immediately after the parade, parents are asked to complete the Google Form provided in the e-blast with this letter instead of sending a note that day. This advanced notice is helpful for us to prepare lists, inform teachers, and organize the children prior to the afternoon events.

Weather permitting, we are going to be dismissing students from the back field again this year. Therefore, the parade procedure will be as follows:

  1. Teachers will escort their classes out of the building, place their backpacks in order by class along the back wall of the school, and then begin the procession for the parade. (Parents, please do not go near this area during the parade.)
  2. At the end of the parade, teachers will escort their students back to this area to line the children up by class for dismissal.
  3. ONE parent should LINE UP behind the sign for their child’s teacher to await the teacher’s permission to sign out their child. PLEASE BE PATIENT with this process so that each child is safely dismissed with a verified parent.

*REMEMBER THAT ALL VEHICLES MUST EXIT THE PARKING LOT SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY BY 2:30 TO PERMIT BUSES TO ENTER.

*It is also best to avoid distracting the children with pictures during dismissal so that they can listen to their teacher for directions. But please snap as many photos of your child as you wish during the parade! *All students must be officially signed out by a parent from their homeroom teacher prior to leaving the school grounds.

*In the event of rain, parents will receive different directions for a dismissal procedure from within the school.
